My wife, Seema, inspires me every day with her wisdom, her spirit, her beauty, and her accomplishments, both as a Senior Director of Product & Solutions Marketing for a global tech company, and as a scholar, who earned a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. Without her love and support, I would not be able to take on the difficult challenge of running for Congress. Her leadership and innovation during this run, are a source of huge strength and differentiator for our campaign team.
My mother, Shanta, had a tremendous impact on my life. As a child – and still to this day – I view my mother as the shining example of what I could aspire to be. She is the one who instilled the zeal of an activist in me, to be fearless and always stand strong for things that matter. When I look back to all her sacrifices, I find it amazing how she had the fortitude to do so. She has definitely defined me to the person today I am. Her rigor, passion, tenacity and courage are the tenets that I bring with me to my hi-tech job, the City Council and to everything I do in our community. I cannot thank her enough for all that she has done for me and for her grandchildren.
Now, as I run for Congress, I am dedicated to empowering ALL women and girls in our society, and to ensure they have every opportunity to fulfill their destinies and achieve their dreams, without being held back by discriminatory attitudes, laws and socio-economic structures. It's simply unacceptable that in 2020, women still earn only .79 cents to every dollar a man makes.
It's simply unacceptable that women still face dangerous impediments to their health and freedom. And it's simply unacceptable that in 2020, our college students live in fear not only of campus predators, but of an administrative and judicial system that too often protects the criminals' rights over those of their victims. When I see a problem, I want to go fix it. I am proud to be the only candidate in this race to stand against Brock Turner and call on Judge Persky to resign.
As our new Congressmember, I will do everything in my power to fight for equal rights, equal pay, and equal opportunities for all women – at school, in the workplace, in the courts, and throughout our society. I would be honored to have your support and your vote for this March 3rd election. Isn't it time someone brought a new vision, a new way? People-centric values? We've given Anna Eshoo 28 years to solve our issues. Special interest politics and platitudes simply don't work any longer. In fact, she has received more money from Big Pharma than any other member of Congress, Republican or Democrat. She has also grossly missed the mark on housing and transportation.
Hi Friend, In the upcoming congressional election, the voters of the 18th district are fortunate to have a real choice: Rishi Kumar of Saratoga. Rishi gets things done! While serving on the Saratoga City Council, Rishi has successfully led the effort to stop repeated attempts by San Jose Water Company to impose predatory rate increases on ratepayers. Since assuming office, he has tirelessly worked to reinvigorate neighborhood watch programs throughout the city, and reduced burglaries by 41% with a series of innovative measures. We are long overdue for a change in Congress. Prescription medications are a major component in the spiraling cost of medical care. Unfortunately, Rishi's opponent Anna Eshoo has chosen to accept campaign funding from Big Pharma. In fact, she has received more money from Big Pharma than any other member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, while passing legislation that increases the price of American healthcare. Not good! She has also grossly missed the mark on housing. She advocates a one-size fits all housing allotment for California cities. The end result of this policy is cramming large-scale, high density developments into existing neighborhoods, with disastrous consequences for traffic congestion and safety. Anna also misses the mark with addressing our traffic congestion, whereas Rishi has clearly articulated a vision to solve our daily traffic gridlock and a plan for the future. We've given Anna Eshoo 28 years to solve these issues. Special interest politics and platitudes simply don't work any longer. People in Saratoga love Rishi. In the 2018 Saratoga City Council election, Rishi received more votes than any other candidate going back to 1995 when voting records were started! Rishi will not accept funding from Big Pharma or any other Special Interest Group. He will apply the same skills he has successfully used in Saratoga to solve the critical issues facing our district. Serious quality of life issues such as the housing and traffic are causing an exodus of Silicon Valley tech talent.. As a valley high tech executive, I have the perspective of what it takes for Silicon Valley's economy - the 19th largest in the world - to sustain and expand. Silicon Valley must lead the world in technological innovation! We must prepare the next generation to succeed in an autonomous world. We cannot fall behind with emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. We need to seed Silicon Valley's innovation success to other parts of California and America, so that our working-class families share in the economic prosperity. As your next congressman, I will implement the vision plan "21 minutes to 21 counties" developing a Mega Silicon Valley to address our tough challenges, attract and retain the best talent and expand our economy. I will host monthly roundtable with our valley CEOs to ensure Silicon Valley's continued success. A dialogue towards a win-win: "What are you issues? How can I help? Here is where I need your help."
